José de Paiva, age 91 of Fall River, passed away on December 28, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Hilda “Ilda” (Ventura de Cambra) de Paiva. Born in São Vicente Ferreira, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Gadin and Alexandrina (Medeiros) Paiva. Prior to retiring, José worked as a Machine Operator at Boston Envelope Co. for 13 years and previously he worked for the Plymouth Rubber Co. in Canton, MA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 5 children: Edward Paiva (wife Delzira), José Carlos Paiva (wife Maria), Manuel Paiva (wife Lurdes), Alfred Paiva all of Fall River and Mary Jo Pavao (husband Luis) of Somerset; a sister: Belmira Correia of Fall River; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel, João, and Maria Paiva, and Antone de Paiva. His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on WEDNESDAY here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery.
